Welcome to CAVU Counseling
Clear and visibility unlimited
At CAVU Counseling, we believe that healing begins with connection—and that every person has the capacity to grow, thrive, and reclaim their story. Whether you're seeking support for your child, your family, or yourself, we’re here to walk alongside you with compassion, clinical expertise, and a deep respect for your journey.
We offer a range of individualized mental health services including traditional talk therapy, Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT), and Equine-Integrated Psychotherapy. Our approach is rooted in evidence-based practices and tailored to meet you exactly where you are—emotionally, developmentally, and relationally.
CAVU is more than a name—it’s an aviation term that stands for “Clear and Visibility Unlimited,” a metaphor for what we believe is possible when the path forward becomes clear. Through a grounded and relational therapeutic process, we help clients find clarity in the present, rise above the weight of past experiences, and move confidently toward the future.
We’re honored to be part of your path toward meaningful, lasting change.
Our Services
Individual Psychotherapy
At CAVU Counseling, individual psychotherapy is designed to support clients of all ages—children, adolescents, and adults—in navigating life’s challenges with clarity, compassion, and purpose. Rooted in a strengths-based and relational approach, sessions are tailored to meet each client’s unique emotional needs, developmental stage, and personal goals. Individual psychotherapy may be provided virtually, at Eagle Oaks in Keystone Heights, or at our satellite location in Ponte Vedra Beach.
For children, therapy often incorporates play, creative expression, and movement to help them explore feelings, improve behavior, and build emotional regulation skills in a way that feels safe and accessible. Caregiver collaboration is woven into the process to promote consistency and growth beyond the therapy space.
With adolescents, we provide a space where teens can be seen and heard without judgment. Therapy may focus on identity development, peer dynamics, anxiety, self-esteem, or family relationships—empowering young people to build insight and learn practical tools for resilience and communication.
Adults come to CAVU Counseling for support with a range of concerns, including stress, trauma, life transitions, grief, relationship issues, and personal growth. Through evidence-based interventions and meaningful therapeutic connection, we help adults gain clarity, process life experiences, and move toward lasting change.
Whether on the ground at the barn, in the therapy room, or from the comfort of your own home via telehealth, CAVU Counseling is committed to walking alongside each client on their path toward healing, growth, and emotional freedom.
Equine-Integrated Psychotherapy (Coming Soon!)
At CAVU Counseling, Equine-Integrated Psychotherapy offers a powerful, experiential approach to emotional growth, behavioral change, and psychological healing—set at Eagle Oaks in Keystone Heights, a calm, natural environment where meaningful breakthroughs can unfold outside the walls of a traditional office..
Our approach integrates evidence-based mental health treatment with intentional interactions with horses, allowing clients to explore emotions, patterns, and relationships in real-time. Horses are highly attuned, relational animals that respond to body language, emotional congruence, and energetic presence. In session, they act as mirrors—offering immediate, honest feedback that supports self-awareness, emotional regulation, and clear communication.
Sessions may include groundwork activities such as grooming, leading, observing herd dynamics, or engaging in structured tasks that align with each client’s therapeutic goals. These moments are guided by a licensed mental health professional and adapted to meet the unique needs of children, adolescents, and adults.
Equine-Integrated Psychotherapy at CAVU Counseling is particularly effective for those navigating anxiety, trauma, ADHD, emotional regulation difficulties, low self-esteem, or relational challenges. This unique setting creates space for embodied insight, grounded connection, and lasting change—empowering clients to experience healing that is felt as much as it is understood.
Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT)
Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT) is an evidence-based treatment model designed to support young children and their caregivers in improving behavior, strengthening attachment, and enhancing emotional regulation through structured, skill-based coaching. At CAVU Counseling, PCIT is offered exclusively via secure telehealth, making it accessible, flexible, and easy to integrate into daily routines from the comfort of your home.
PCIT is most effective for children ages 2–7 who struggle with emotional outbursts, defiance, aggression, or difficulty following directions. The model is unique in that it directly involves caregivers in the therapeutic process, empowering them with tools to manage behavior while building a more connected and nurturing relationship with their child.
Sessions are divided into two structured phases:
Child-Directed Interaction (CDI): Caregivers learn to enhance the parent-child bond through play, praise, and responsiveness, creating a strong emotional foundation.
Parent-Directed Interaction (PDI): Caregivers are coached in clear limit-setting, consistent follow-through, and effective discipline strategies to reduce disruptive behaviors and increase cooperation.
During each telehealth session, the therapist provides real-time, live coaching to caregivers while they interact with their child, offering direct support, feedback, and encouragement. This format allows caregivers to practice skills in their natural environment, leading to greater confidence and long-term success.
At CAVU Counseling, we are committed to guiding families through this transformative process with warmth, clinical expertise, and ongoing collaboration—helping caregivers feel empowered and children feel understood.
